Mayor of Warrington officially unveils Lea Court

Lea Court Treatment & Recovery Centre has been officially unveiled by the Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Faisal Rashid.

The centre, in Warrington, is run by Alternative Futures Group to support people with enduring mental health problems who have been assessed as having the potential to improve their level of functioning and independence.

On Tuesday 9 August a special celebration event was staged for the community, featuring a barbecue, bicycle-peddled smoothie maker, DJ, games of pool, along with tea and cake. There was also an exercise bike, hula hoops and football games – promoting the benefits of exercise linked to health and wellbeing.

Service users, their families, staff, partners and residents all joined in a fun-packed sunny afternoon of activities before Cllr Rashid lifted the curtain to unveil a commemorative plaque.

Reflecting on the day, Carol Naylor, Clinical Lead for Alternative Futures Group at Lea Court, said: “Our motto is ‘a world where people control their lives’ and we are excited about the potential of Lea Court to make a difference to individuals’ lives

“We’d like to thank everybody who came together for what an uplifting and inspiring occasion.”
