A close – knit bunch
The ladies and gents of AFG Fylde and Wyre are a close – knit bunch. On a Tuesday morning at 10.00am, they meet at the Fleetwood Library for their fortnightly catch up at the Knit, Natter & Craft Group. They take their own crafts, knitting and music and get together for a good natter and plan future events.
One member, Iris, said: “I enjoy going to our group, we have a good time chatting, I take my knitting. I’m knitting blankets for our local dog rescue centre.”
Penny, who is also supported by AFG Fylde and Wyre agreed. She said: “It’s nice to meet up with friends and plan social events. It’s very exciting; we’re planning a ball for the end of the year.”
Jain Campbell, a Team Leader within the area added: “The Knit, Natter & Craft Group is a great success. It’s nice to see everyone enjoying themselves and planning future events. The group chat about all of the positive things they have been doing and share their stories. The group came up with the idea to host a ball to showcase our positive stories. Their theme is “21 ways to keep a promise” to tie in with AFG’s 21st birthday celebrations.
The group have started to plan the event and have come up with some great ideas. The venue is booked and it’s full steam ahead! We will be doing some fundraising events throughout the year to raise funds for the ball, it’s all very exciting. The ladies are already designing their outfits and the gents are having a few nights out to look for the right band. It’s great to celebrate all the good work that goes on in our area and how we as a team keep Our Promise to the people we support.”
