Burnley coffee afternoon helps out local hospice
Meadow Close, Burnley was the venue for a very successful fundraising coffee afternoon on Saturday 9 August where organisers Nigel (Burnley Team Leader) and Linda (Burnley Support Worker), together with the people we support, raised £60 for Pendleside Hospice.
The coffee afternoon was the idea of the people we support and staff members at Meadow Close who wanted to give back and support the local community in which they live in. Situated near Meadow Close, Pendleside Hospice holds a special place in their hearts, especially for Support Worker, Linda, whose brother has leukaemia and is receiving treatment there.
Pendleside Hospice provides for the special needs of adults with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses in the Burnley and Pendle area.
Nigel Lowry, AFG Burnley Team Leader said: “We had a great day filled with fun and some yummy cakes baked by the people we support.”
Linda Daniels, AFG Burnley Support Worker said: “It was so good to see everyone having fun and socialising for such a good local cause.”
Following the huge success of their first fundraiser, the team at Meadow Close are now busy planning their next event.
