Calling all Guerrilla Artists
Following the huge success of our first Guerrilla Arts Workshop in July, Alternative Futures Group are now inviting artist submissions for their 2014/15 Guerrilla Arts Project.
At Alternative Futures Group we support people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental health problems and are committed to our vision of ‘a world where people control their lives’. We strive to achieve this in all that we do and are committed to delivering services which support individuals to live fulfilled, exciting lives as part of their local community.
We recognise there are times in people’s lives when they are unable to live independently in their own homes and remain committed to providing person centred care and support for people staying within one of our 8 North West Treatment and Recovery Centres. We also recognise the importance of the physical environment in the rehabilitation process and for this reason we wish to commission artists to take part in our ‘Guerrilla Arts’ Project, where we aim to transform each of our Treatment and Recovery Centres into places which use visual arts to aid the healing process.
We are now looking for 3 artists to work either individually or together in our Treatment and Recovery Centre in the Wirral.
The theme is either Treatment and Recovery or Hope. The artists will use any media, whether that is installation, photography, painting, sculpture or murals to transform the currently quiet clinical settings into inspirational, thought provoking, peaceful environments. It would be beneficial if the people we support could be involved in the creation of the artwork, although this is not essential.
Could you be one of our Guerrilla Artists? The fee for each artist will be £200 plus the cost of any materials required.
Proposals can be sent by post or electronically addressed to:
