Disco Fever hits Fylde and Wyre
It was retro attire for AFG Fylde and Wyre at their recent ‘Disco Fever Fundraiser’. Organised by staff teams and people supported across AFG Fylde & Wyre (Iris, Ian, Stephen, Gillian and Sharon), the event saw the partygoers, including friends and family members of those supported in the area, raise over £250.
The 60s and 70s themed event, held at the Royal British Legion in Cleveley, included a sumptuous buffet and karaoke.
Kath Gannon, whose brother Ian is supported at AFG said: “I had a wonderful night, it was lovely to see Ian on the karaoke singing in front of everyone; it brought a tear to my eye.”
Jane Campbell, Team Leader said: “It was a fantastic night and it was great to see everyone really enjoying themselves, singing and dancing the night away! There was a fabulous raffle which raised over £250 towards our ‘Promise Ball’ that the people we support in the area and staff teams are busy organising.”
The forthcoming AFG Fylde and Wyre black-tie ‘Promise Ball’ in November is themed around ’21 ways to keep a Promise.’
This year, AFG is observing 21 years of providing life-enriching support across the North West, with a celebratory programme of local events to mark its 21st anniversary.
Karen Fitzsimon, Community Service Director of AFG Lancashire said: “The fundraising events are for several community projects for the people we support, ensuring we remain focused to our vision of ‘A world where people control their lives.’ The projects range from person-centred sensory gardens and allotments, craft equipment for the Knit, Natter and Craft group, music and karaoke equipment for social events to a communal Tricycle for people supported in the area.
“The Promise Ball will encourage community engagement, raise awareness of AFG and provide networking opportunities to encourage partnership working.”
The event is at 7pm onwards on Friday 29 November 2013 at The North Euston Hotel in Fleetwood. Tickets are priced at £25 per head and include a three course meal and entertainment.
