Jodie SURF’s Zen Internet
This summer, we reported on the exciting partnership between AFG Rochdale and Pure Innovations, a national not-for-profit organisation that supports people with disabilities and disadvantaged groups to get into work and access community and leisure activities. Read the latest on Jodie’s work placement at Zen Internet.
“I am really enjoying working here, it’s keeping me entertained and out of trouble! It is the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
The article introduced us to Jodie, who is supported in Rochdale is also a member of the newly named River Roch Forum, Rochdale’s local Service User Representative Forum (SURF). Jodie was working closely with Jenny Newell, Pure Innovations’ Employment Officer, to find employment experience in an area of interest.
We’re delighted to share that Jodie has recently been given the opportunity to work at Zen Internet in Sandbrook Park Rochdale, on a 6 week voluntary basis. Zen Internet provides data, voice and hosting services to business and residential customers and has been operating in Rochdale for the last 18 years.
Jodie said: “I am working as a receptionist. My first day was the 16th October and I work there every Wednesday. I am really enjoying working there, it’s keeping me entertained and out of trouble! It is the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
Jodie’s jobs include laminating, photocopying and checking emails. Jodie has her own desk and is left to get on with her jobs with some support from Jemma Heyes, Employment Officer at Pure Innovations.
Jodie’s mum echoed Jodie’s enthusiasm. She said: “This is really good for Jodie which will help her learn new skills. Even I would like to work there!”
