AFG Awards Showcase ‘Fabulous Work’

Alternative Future Group’s Cheshire and Wirral teams held their glittering awards ceremony at the Village Hotel in Warrington. The awards included Team of the Year, Support Worker of the Year, Leader of the Year and Best Newcomer.

Regional Director Carol Toner explained: “Last summer the Cheshire and Wirral regional events project team discussed the concept of an awards event. We were hoping to re–engage with our people, showcase our fabulous work and celebrate our refreshed vision, mission and values.”

AFG teams up to form new football ‘ability’ team

Alternative Futures Group (AFG) Tameside staff Sean McCarron and James Paul have been instrumental in joining up with Stalybridge Celtic foundation to form Stalybridge Celtic AFG.

With the benefit of £1000 of start-up money secured by  AFG Team Leader Andrea Doherty, it’s seen as the up and coming learning disability football team in the area.

Andrea said: “This is a fantastic opportunity because it promotes amongst other things health and well-being, inclusion and building better relationships with peers.”

Rochdale Supported Living Staff Go ‘Above and Beyond’

Staff at Mountain Ash Rochdale supported living received £100 of shopping vouchers from Alternative Futures Group CEO Neil Campbell for “the outstanding work of the team” – supporting service user Carla Gardiner in response to a life-threatening condition.

Their award follows the receipt of a letter from Carla’s mother Elizabeth to AFG’s CEO asking that Jade Higson, Lynne Didsbury, Sue Brown, Cassie Hooley and Ziggy Ahmed be recognised for their ‘above and beyond efforts’ during a very challenging time.

AFG showcases powerful outcome for the people it supports

 

 

Alternative Futures Group (AFG) has been showcasing how it changes service user lives daily for the better to a Transforming Care event in Liverpool.

The event (The Art of the Possible), organised by NHS England for providers of social and health care providers across the North West of England, was an opportunity for AFG to share stories about how the charity enables service users to live more full and independent lives.
