Millbrook Independent Hospital rated “outstanding” for responsiveness
A Wythenshawe treatment and recovery centre run by Alternative Futures Group has received an overall rating of “Good” in a Care Quality Commission report.
Millbrook Independent Hospital, purpose built and opened 12 years ago, provides care and treatment for men and women with mental health needs. Recently, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) undertook a routine inspection of the services provided.
In the category of “Are services responsive?” Millbrook scored “Outstanding”. Feedback stated: “We rated responsiveness as outstanding because…the service was a good example of social inclusion and there was a big emphasis on patients engaging in activities in the local community.”
In the categories of “Safe”, “Effective”, “Caring” and “Services well-led”, Millbrook attained “Good”.
Summing up the overall grade of “Good”, the report stated: “Care plans were holistic, recovery focused and included the views of the patient… We saw positive interactions between staff and patients. All patients we spoke with told us they were treated in a dignified, respectful and caring manner.”
Lee Monaghan, Manager at Millbrook, said the report was a fantastic endorsement for both the care model provided by Alternative Futures Group, along with the dedication and professionalism of staff at the treatment and recovery centre.
“The CQC Report described the service as a good example of social inclusion with a big emphasis on patients engaging in activities in the local community,” he added.
“It also shows the work the team have done in relation to the successful discharges. We have improved significantly by shortening the length of stay at Millbrook and successfully discharged patients into community service and home environments. This also emphasises that the individualised pathway from Millbrook has helped patients remain well and able to cope in the community
“We are delighted with the recognition and acknowledgement as this shows the hard work and dedication of a really recovery focused team, and we will take on all areas of feedback as we strive to continue to provide a quality service.”
