Rochdale’s Biggest Coffee Morning!
Hosting a Coffee Morning is now proving a piece of cake for AFG Rochdale.
Staff and people supported in Rochdale came together for a coffee and a homemade cake in aid of The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Support on Friday 27th September, beating last year’s amount raising over £200.00.
Getting together with those they cherish to make time for what really matters: food, laughter and getting to know people better, the Coffee Morning was held in the Court Room of AFG Rochdale’s local office, TOPS (The Old Police Station) on Hind Hill Street. Heywood. Landlord Anya Stark of NMEG kindly waived the hire fee for this fundraising event.
Neighbouring businesses of TOPS also attended the fun morning, including four prospective employees on their informal interview!
Jacky O’Dell, Administrator for Rochdale and Tameside said: “The Coffee Morning was brilliant. Our local SURF (Service User Representative Forum) Group took the lead in the organising; Jason provided background music and took requests, Jodie, Yvonne and Support Worker Brenda Furlong made the drinks, Georgina and Support Worker Katie Hollinshead manned the homemade cake stall, Martin was on washing up duties, and Katherine ran the raffle. There was a real sense of teamwork! Team Leaders Joanne Ward and Janine Fearon hosted the Football card and the Macmillan draw. It was a good to mingle with the other businesses at TOPS too.”
Area Managers Lorraine Laporte and Kelly Thomas were delighted with the outcome.
Kelly said: “Rochdale SURF did an amazing job, as did the people we support in Rochdale who made the cakes to raise money for Macmillan.”
Lorraine agreed: “This was the first event that the newly formed Rochdale SURF has organised. It was a resounding success!”
