A Rock n’ Roll Christmas at Rochdale
On Thursday 12th December, ‘AFG Rochdale’ were all shook up at their annual Christmas Party with a visit from special guest Elvis Presley!
The party, organised by the River Roch Forum (with support from Team Leaders Sarah Kissack and Claire Hargreaves), was held at Richmond Hall. The group first started planning the event in October. They decided they would charge £5 a ticket so that they could hire entertainment. They unanimously decided on an Elvis impersonator, agreeing Elvis is a favourite and that he would get everybody up singing and dancing throughout the evening!
The group then organised the catering and the venue. Each member of the forum carried out individual responsibilities such as producing a poster for the event, selling tickets and – finding an Elvis!
Excited guests donned their party shoes (blue suede?) and arrived at 6pm for some serious partying. Elvis started the party with hits such as Blue Christmas and Suspicious Minds.
Team Leader Janine Fearon said: “All of the people who are supported by AFG Rochdale made the party and a fantastic time was had by all. The dance floor was packed throughout the whole night. It was a great chance to celebrate Christmas and also the fantastic year AFG Rochdale has had. All left the evening feeling festive and merry!”
Food was served which consisted of a choice of hot pie or cold buffet and then Elvis again continued to rock out old favourites.
Jason of the River Roch Forum said: “Elvis was smashing. I had a really good night and am very proud to have organised such a fantastic party which everyone attended. It was really good to see everyone having such a good time and I really enjoyed dancing the night away.“
Kelly Thomas, Area Manager said: “The River Roch Forum has done an amazing job in organising one of the best parties AFG Rochdale has ever had. They should all be really proud of themselves, this is a fantastic achievement.”
