I’m Chair of AFG’s Board of Trustees and joined Alternative Futures Group in 2008.

I had an association with AFG in its early days and was impressed by the then, ground-breaking and value-led approach to supporting user independence. Renewing my association over ten year later, it is heartening to see how the value-led approach and concern to make a difference to people’s lives has endured, making it an organisation I am pleased to belong and make a contribution to.

I have extensive executive and non-executive board experience with statutory and third sector organisations.

I currently chair Skills for Health Ltd, the sector skills council for the UK health sector, which is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. Skills for Health works with NHS and independent sector organisations across the whole of the UK to develop a workforce with the skills needed to provide healthcare at the right quality and productivity.

I am also a vice-chair of West Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group which is responsible for the health and healthcare of a population of 250,000 people. Here I support the CCG chair as the senior lay member/non-executive director and chair the commissioning delivery, appointments and remuneration committees. I am also a member of the audit committee.

I’m a co founder of GoodwinHannah, a specialist healthcare consultancy helping boards, executive teams and NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups develop organisational leadership in complex healthcare economies.

Before co-founding GoodwinHannah, I was Chief Executive of the Cheshire & Merseyside Strategic Health Authority. I was also a member of the Department of Health ‘Top Team’ for managing the NHS in England.

My early career was in human resources management. I successfully achieved a master’s degree in management learning from the University of Lancaster and an advanced diploma in professional coach-mentoring practice from the Oxford School of Coaching and Mentoring. Furthermore, I am qualified in the use of the Myers Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI), and became a graduate of the Institute of Personnel Management in 1983.
