Hi, I’m Mike.
I joined AFG as their Clinical Director in October 2012. I have known AFG and its values since it was founded in 1992, and when I decided to return to employment they were my first choice.
My key responsibilities include the development and management of AFG’s clinical services.
I am a former Director of Nursing for the NHS and consultant for the World Health Organisation (WHO). I have developed and implemented mental health services in over 30 countries, including Asia, Africa and North America. I have also gained the prestigious title of ‘UK Nurse of the Year’ during my work experience.
Some of my interests outside work include restoring vintage motorcycles, racing, cycling and being in natural environments. I also enjoy planting trees and restoring hedgerow; over the last 5 years I have grown over two miles!
My favourite sports include rugby league and road racing, and my favourite book is ‘The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy’, by Douglas Adams.
A fact you might find interesting about me is that I once had lunch with president William Jefferson Blythe III Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton when he was in office as 42nd president (shame about the other 300 people who were gate crashing).
