Team Leader helps inspire a generation
Yesterday we reflected on the achievements of our Service Users over the past year.
Today we’d like to share some of the excellent work of our staff, namely Jim Newman, a Team Leader from Lancashire, who held the prestigious role as Paralympic Ambassador at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London. Go Jim!
Jim featured in the summer edition of staff magazine Staying in Touch when he was preparing to embark on his Olympic adventure. He had been given the task of welcoming all nationalities into the Olympic Stadium and guiding them around the venue. Jim was very excited to be given this wonderful opportunity and he seemed eager to begin his training sessions.
Staying in Touch caught up with Jim after his exciting role, and it’s certain the Paralympics was an unforgettable experience for him. Jim, who was on duty as an ambassador from 2nd September, ended his experience with the Athletes Parade on the 10th September 2012 in London.
Jim tells us
‘Everyone I met was very cheerful, excited and there for a good time. There were wide eyes, high hopes, with odds beaten and records broken. The crowds were roaring and spirits were soaring, with a stadium moved to tears. It is an experience I will never forget.’
Jim’s experience seemed to live up to his expectations and we’re sure Team GB’s bronze result added to the electric atmosphere in the stadium.
We are delighted Jim’s experience was a rewarding one; and we might just see him in Rio for 2016!
