West Lancs man entertains the nation

A man from West Lancashire with learning disabilities has been entertaining the nation, thanks to LDOK.net, an inclusive online radio station.

Jeff from Scarisbrick is supported by AFG and along with six others, Jeff, who sit on the Service Users Representative Forum (SURF), have been given the opportunity to host the show which has 35,000 people tuning in every month.

Jeff said: I really enjoyed being a DJ for the day. I got the chance to tell everyone about my jobs in the community, we had a quiz all about Lancashire and I loved being able to play the song requests from all the people AFG supports in and around West Lancashire.  It was really interesting to see how a radio programme is produced and I’d love to have another go.”

Carol Toner, Community Service Director at AFG said: Jeff is the latest person we support to be given a chance to present his own show and talk about some of the things he and his friends are involved with.  This is just one of the initiatives championed by AFG which helps to combat and challenge stigma.”

‘SURFing the Airwaves’ is broadcast at 11am on every second Monday of the month on www.ldok.net.
